Most people who live in suburban areas must travel a considerable
distance to enjoy the delightful sights, sounds and aromas of the
great outdoors. But for the fortunate residents of the Scio
Ridge Land Conservancy area, the opportunity to experience nature in
its unspoiled glory is just steps away from their own front doors.
The residents of the Uplands of Scio Ridge share in the ownership of
the  conservancy
which is a protected nature area composed of nearly 90 acres of scenic
wetlands, private wooded areas, and open meadows that will never be
developed. The trails, which are maintained by the officers and
volunteers of the Scio Ridge Land Conservancy, provide an excellent
environment for nature study, photography, hiking and jogging, and
cross-country skiing. There are benches throughout the area that
allow for optimal enjoyment of the wildlife and beautiful
surroundings.
